Girls to the Front – Kelowna Update
We’ve had to make the difficult decision to postpone the fully activated version of Girls to the Front in Kelowna to next year.
We truly turned over every leaf. As we explored venues, formats, and timing for this year, it became clear that the conditions needed to uphold the heart and values of the fest weren’t fully in place yet. Rather than forcing GTTF into a format that doesn’t reflect the community we want to serve, we’ve chosen to pause and protect the integrity of the fest.
We also want to say a huge thank you to all the bands who applied. The number of submissions more than tripled from last year, and that response means so much to us. It’s a powerful reminder of why GTTF exists and how strong this community already is.
This isn’t giving up, it’s regrouping. GTTF exists to uplift loud women, non-binary, and gender-diverse artists, and to create space that feels intentional, supportive, and sustainable. Taking a step back allows us to recalibrate and ensure that when GTTF fully returns to Kelowna, it does so in a way that truly honours the artists, bands, and community involved.
We’re deeply grateful for the encouragement, excitement, and conversations this project has sparked so far. That energy matters, and it’s part of what keeps this vision alive.
Thank you for believing in what Girls to the Front stands for. We’ll share more when the time is right. 💜
